Note:

Gift; Of Kenneth J. Blum of the Miranda Lux Foundation; in 2006.
Miranda W. Lux was married to Charles Lux, a partner in the Miller & Lux Company. When Mrs. Lux died in 1894, her will set aside fund to perpetuate her lifelong interest in technical, manual and vocational training. In 1908 her bequest was used to found the Lux School of Industrial Training, an institution dedicated to the technical training of girls operating in San Francisco. The school changed its name to Lux College in 1952, but the expenses of operating a private school became too great, so the school closed in 1953. The trust was changed to the Miranda Lux Foundation in 1955 and has continued to support innovative and promising pre-vocational and vocational education proposals that prepare young people for the world of work.
